Driving at
Speed-
During
dispatched response, BCFD Apparatuses are allowed to reach 15 mph’s over the
speed limit. BCFD Ambulances are allowed to reach 20mphs over the speed limit
on a call or emergency transport. These excessive speeds are only allowed
during clear straight a ways such as highways with free flowing traffic. In the
city, BCFD units are allowed to go 5 to 10 mph’s over the posted speed limits,
depending on congestion. Any speed in conjunction with Emergency Dispatch
requires the use of Lights and Sirens. NO EXCEPTIONS.
ALL
vehicles WILL slow down before coming to a Stop Sign, Red Light, and the driver
and passenger must look to ensure the intersection is safe to proceed through
while using the Priority Siren and/or Air horn. No exceptions to this, Smaller
intersections with no signage require caution as a vehicle can come out at any
time. The use of Air horn and / or Priority siren at these intersections is
required; however, slowdown is NOT required unless the driver feels a drop in
speed is necessary.
Vehicles
that are traveling down the road going code 3 must not block both lanes of

Ultimately,
speeds are at the discretion of the driver, however, any Bay City Fire
